The Kamala Hills Apartments are currently under construction with a number of completed units fully furnished and ready for long term rent. The managing agent, Phuket Island Property Services (PIPS), are offering preferential rates for clients wishing to take advantage of this prime property until November 2005.
With 45 apartments planed around a central swimming pool, Kamala Hills Lifestyle Apartments is nestled in the valley of Kamala Beach. Designed with a modern style in mind, the apartments are a haven in the forested surroundings with the hills behind rising dramatically. The nearby waterfall, forrest walks and abundance of bird life provide the perfect getaway from the busy beach areas.
Only three minutes from the center of Kamala, a short drive up the valle with its laid back village atmosphere
The village of Kamala Beach offers a number of fine western and local restaurants, good bakeries and coffee shops, and many services ranging from dive shops to tailors, from travel agents to spas. Some of the restaurants will offer take away or home delivery services. Many of the locals know Kamala Hills and will deliver to your door if asked. Many of the great restaurants in Kamala, have a distinctly relaxed atmosphere. Post tsunami, many of the old favourites have resurfaced. Khun May, well known in the area for her beachfront eatery “Gourmet” has re-opened in the village and HC Andersen is also back. Many of the nightspots on the main road provide a fine evenings entertainment. Most notably, the Kamala Beer Garden, is a favourite for a few cold ones
Many of the local shops will have basic essentials and the Kamala Bakery has a good selection of breads and deli items. A more comprehensive shop would best be done at one of the big supermarkets in Phuket Town, Lotus – Tescos, BigC and Central to name a few.
One of Thailand’s most well known attractions is Fantasea, A Thai cultural show a la Las Vegas with dancing elephants and a rollicking good time to be had by all. This is situated in Kamala and is well worth a visit.
There was some great diving to be had off Kamala Beach before the tsunami and only time will tell how quickly this will return from a marine life point of view. There can still be some great snorkelling to be found off the southern headland and should not be discounted.
The hills around Kamala are scattered with tracks in the rubber plantations. For those wanting a bit of exercise, a good walk in the woods is always rewarding. Be sure to take a lot of water with you and a mobile phone. These are fairly well travelled by the locals on mopeds. A smile and a “Sawasdee Kha/p” is always appreciated.
